Swimming Advanced
Complete the Red Cross Swim level VII-Advanced Skills or the following:
- Springboard dive in tuck and pike positions in suitable depth water.
- Swim continuously any combination of strokes for 500 yards.
- Swim front crawl—200 yards.
- Swim underwater—25 yards.
- Swim back crawl—l00 yards.
- Swim breaststroke—50 yards.
- Swim side stroke—50 yards.
- Swim butterfly—25 yards
- Demonstrate backstroke flip turn.
- Do in-water rescues using equipment.
- Discuss conditioning principles and demonstrate checking your heart rate.
- Retrieve a diving brick (10-lb) from 8-10 feet of water.
- Review water safety skills.
- Tread water for five minutes.
- Assist with a backboard rescue.
