Swimming Intermediate
Complete the Red Cross Swimming level V - Stroke Refinement or the following:
- Demonstrate alternate breathing.
- Demonstrate stride jump entry.
- Demonstrate standing dive from board.
- Demonstrate long shallow dive.
- Swim breaststroke—10 yards.
- Swim side stroke—10 yards.
- Swim underwater—15 yards.
- Swim elementary backstroke—25 yards.
- Demonstrate dolphin kick—10 yards.
- Swim front crawl—50 yards.
- Swim back crawl—10 yards.
- Demonstrate open turn on front.
- Demonstrate open turn on back.
- Discuss safe rules for diving from a board.
- Discuss recognition of spinal injury.
- Demonstrate hip/shoulder support.
- Demonstrate feet-first surface dive.
- Tread water for two minutes total with two different kicks.
